    Hi Parents,

    Happy Long Weekend with your children. A reminder there is no school for students on Monday Dec. 5th- District Non Instructional Day! I will be proofreading 307 report cards this weekend so I am sending the reminders out tonight.

    DECEMBER NEWSLETTER was emailed out- check your junk mail if you didn't get it or call Mrs. Connelly in the office to ensure we have your proper email address.

    KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION for 2017/2018 begins February 14th, 2017 at Westmount. More information is posted on the website for all families with 5 year olds starting school next year. MARK YOUR CALENDARS and tell your neighbours!

    Thank you for your support of the BEST SEATS and PARKING SPOT raffle. Winners will be called Tuesday Dec. 6th.

    VIRTUE OF THE WEEK: DETERMINATION

    FRESH IS BEST ORDERS  for Westmount School's Fundraiser are due back Tuesday Dec. 6th. All proceeds fundraised will go towards purchasing great stuff for your kids!

    BE A HUNGER HERO campaign runs until Dec. 15. Please send your child with a non perishable food item for the Salvation Army. Please bring an item for the Christmas Concert performances as well as your 'admission.' Leadership students thank you in advance for supporting their cause.

    WEDNESDAY IS PAC POPCORN DAY! Send $1.00 with your child.

    PRIMARY CHRISTMAS CONCERT WEEK! Teachers are sending home their own information about costumes and supplies so please respond to their needs. Be sure to ask your child which side of the stage they stand on as you look out from the audience so you don't end up on the opposite side of your performer!

    FRIDAY DEC. 9 is SPIRIT DAY! Wear your WOLFPACK SPIRIT ATTIRE or BLUE! It is also  PAC PIZZA HUT HOT LUNCH DAY!  We will reverse the reverse lunch on this day.

    KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION Feb. 14-16, 2017

    K REGISTRATION IS THE WEEK of FEB. 14th-FEB. 16th, 2017

     Feb. 14-16th will be Kindergarten Registration for Westmount. Please bring your child’s birth certificate and care card to the office with proof of address and fill out an enrollment form as well as a District Form if you have a child that has any significant social, cognitive or medical difficulties. Only students from our catchment may be accepted at this time and parents need to prove they live in our catchment to attend. Students from another neighborhood in Westsyde must register at their catchment school first then bring an “APPLICATION FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENT TRANSFER TO ANOTHER SCHOOL” form and bring that to Westmount during the official Kindergarten registration time. Out of catchment students would be put on a waitlist and notified in September if there is room at our school.

    PLEASE NOTE: Families registering for Kindergarten will be welcomed back to attend the WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN EVENT Friday June 2nd, 2017 from 8:40-11:30 am to participate in some activities in set groups and have a school tour.

    PARENTS ARE ALSO INVITED TO A KINDERGARTEN ROUND UP EVENT at the HGEC: SAVE THE DATE Thursday February 9th  from 6:30-8:30 pm. ALL NEW FAMILIES for the 2017/2018 school year are encouraged to attend.

    Hi Parents,

    This weekend I type to you from the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver as I left Thursday to attend the 22nd Annual Aboriginal Education Conference. Today I got to listen to the Minister of Justice & Attorney General  of Canada- Jody Wilson-Raybould.

    Parents should also know that the Minister of Education and delegates toured Westmount Friday November 25th. This is positive that the Ministry is touring our campus to see the pressures on our school with our current student body total.

    Here is a look at the week ahead as we enter the last week of November:

    WESTMOUNT IS ONCE AGAIN participating in the BE A HUNGER HERO CAMPAIGN for the Salvation Army. Last year, Westmount WON the Food drive and our entire school won PIZZA! We would love to get the honors for a second year in a row! Please assist our leadership students by bringing in non perishable food items until Dec. 15

    CONSIDER entering the RAFFLE for BEST SEATS AND BEST PARKING SPOTS for our Christmas Concerts. This is a wonderful prize. Good luck to all of you! Tickets and money are due back by Friday  December 2nd.

    Monday November 28- Pizza with the Principal Lunch for all kids involved at 12:05. Fresh is Best Fundraiser Order forms go home Monday- they are due back Dec. 6th. Zirnhelt and Edstrom's classes go skating so please remember to send skates and a helmet.

    Please note on Monday the staff and I have a meeting at the HGEC at 3:00 pm. We will all be exiting the school just after dismissal to arrive to our session on time. Thank you for not scheduling an appointment with teachers afterschool Monday.

    Tuesday November 29- RECOGNITION ASSEMBLY 8:45 am. Congratulations to students also attending the MATH EXPO on Tuesday to represent our school.

    PAC POINSETTIA ORDERS can be picked up Tuesday at the school in the afternoon. You can pick these up at our SENSORY PORTABLE beside MRS. RUDDICK's portable between 2 and 3 pm.

    Wednesday November 30- Mrs. Connolly's class go on a field trip to the Public Library at 10:45. We look forward to Mandarin oranges for our Fruit and Veggie program.

    Thursday December 1- Just lots of learning happening!

    Friday December 2- Best Seats in the House and Parking Spot tickets due. MILK AND COOKIE DAY!

    SPIRIT DAY- Wear your most favourite and crazy socks!

    *REMINDER THERE IS NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS on Monday December 5th.

    Dec. 6-9th- VIRTUE OF DETERMINATION

    Tues. Dec. 6- Fresh is Best Orders due back, Draw will be made for Best Seats and Parking Spot Raffle

    Wed. Dec. 7- POPCORN DAY, Primary Christmas Concert Dress Rehearsal 1:30(classes will be watching each other for this performance)

    Thurs Dec. 8- Primary Christmas Concert "THE VIRTUES OF THE SEASON" 1:30pm for afternoon performance and 6:30 pm for evening. Please try to avoid attending both concerts as seating (and parking) is extremely limited at Westmount. If you can watch the afternoon performance we would appreciate that as your concert of choice. Please bring an item for the Salvation Army.

    Fri. Dec. 9- PAC PIZZA HUT Day! SPIRIT DAY- wear your Wolfpack clothing or blue! Mrs. Connolly's class to the "HOCKEY SWEATER" presentation at Sagebrush

    PARENT'S WEEKLY UPDATE NOV. 21-25th, 2016

    Hi Parents,

    I write to you from my hotel in Quesnel as I am away at my daughter's hockey tournament(proud Mom as she got her first goal of the season!)  I hope you are having a great start to your weekend so far.

    Please find below the updates for families for next week and a glance at the following week as well.

    VIRTUE OF THE WEEK: HELPFULNESS (we hope you can utilize this virtue at home this week)

    THOUGHT EXCHANGE: Thanks to all those parents that participated in the District Thought Exchange questions in Round 1. We ask that you now check your email and assign the 'STARS' to the most important thoughts listed.

    ATTENDANCE: Please ensure children are coming to school, unless truly ill, as teachers are trying hard to complete assessments prior to report cards. If your child is going to be absent, it is important to communicate with the classroom teacher to see if there are assignments your child needs to work on in their absence if possible. Please remember that much of the learning and lessons in our classrooms can not be duplicated. Your child's attendance to hear the instruction is crucial with the ReDesigned Curriculum.

    VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS- Please return your Playoff Permission slips Monday if you haven't already.

    Monday Nov. 21: ART STARTS- STORY THEATRE PERFORMANCE 9 am. If you haven't paid your $15 fee for these three performances could you please send payment Monday. The school has no budget to recover the costs for those parents that do not pay fee so please help us.

    FRESH IS BEST FUNDRAISER STARTS! Westmount will be selling chips, salsa and dips for $5 each! Cheaper than the store! Orders will go home Mon. Nov. 28. They are due back Tues. Dec. 6. Orders will be delivered to the school Tuesday Dec. 13. Parents can come pick up their orders that day or we will send them home with your children.
